Oxygen equipment FAQ
Common Questions
Do I need a prescription for an oxygen concentrator?
Yes. Supplemental oxygen is prescribed by a qualified healthcare provider. The equipment and settings must match your prescription and clinical needs.
What is the difference between continuous-flow and pulse-dose oxygen?
Continuous-flow equipment supplies oxygen continuously at the prescribed flow rate. Pulse-dose equipment delivers oxygen in response to inhalation. The two delivery methods and their settings are not interchangeable.
Can a portable oxygen concentrator be used on an airplane?
The Inogen Rove 4 and Rove 6 meet FAA acceptance criteria for carriage and use aboard aircraft. Contact your airline before travel, follow its requirements and plan for adequate batteries and backup oxygen.
Which portable oxygen concentrator is lighter?
The Rove 4 weighs approximately 2.9 pounds with its standard battery and prioritizes compact portability. The Rove 6 weighs approximately 4.8 pounds with its standard battery and offers six settings plus longer optional battery life.
